3D Design and Printing

3D Design With Tinkecad

Design-driven education, learn by doing, maker culture, fablab, do it yourself are trending topics in education recently. Teaching and learning are through problem solving with students as knowledge creators  exploring and building their own knowledge. With 3D design students can design an object that they can print it out with 3D printers. 3D designs and printers brings the imagination of students to life. This approach enables students to learn and work collaboratively in team through problem solving. Students explore areas of interest hence learning covers multiple subjects and topics.

Fusion 360, Tinkercad, are among the many tools for designing 3D objects. Read here for more. In this post we explore the possibilities of 3D design with Tinkercad. Tinkercad is a free online tool for creating 3D objects which can be printed. It is so simple that there is no need to have experience in design to design with Tinkercad. Anybody can design. All that is required is your imagination, motivation and creativity.

I tried to follow this tutorial. The picture below is my 3D design of the screw in the tutorial.

After designing an object with Tinkercard, the choice of 3D printing or Laser cutting has to be made.
The pictures below are objects that were designed with Tinkercad and printed.
